Within distribution, a major issue in socio-economic philosophy, commodities, credit, inventory, rewards and any other that can be expressed in quantity, the mechanism works. The criterion of only two factors to qualify as prime makes scarcity of the same as we move up the number line thus, one notices that there are 15 primes for the first 50 counting numbers and 10 for the next 50. This tendency continues but perhaps not in a linear fashion. The effect becomes that as we move one prime to another, the distance along the number line between two primes increases. This distance in units of counting numbers is called a prime gap.
For example the distance between the 10th and 9th prime is 29-23=6 while that between the 5th and 4th prime is 11-7=4. These variegated and somewhat bulging gaps are the cornerstone of applicability of prime numbers in distribution
